 “Yo he venido a Barcelona para hablar de santos y mártires. Fíjense qué tema más cristiano. Y sin embargo, el arzobispo ha decidido prohibirlo”. Juan José Tamayo, teólogo progresista y catedrático de Teología de la Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, presentó ayer su libro, Ignacio Ellacuría, Utopía y Teoría Crítica, en un local de Esquerra republicana de la calle de Onzinelles, en el barrio barcelonés de La Bordeta. El acto debía celebrarse en la vecina parroquia de Sant Medir, pero la archidiócesis de Barcelona impidió que se celebrara allí.

El libro, que Tamayo, defensor de la Teología de la Liberación y muy crítico con la jerarquía católica, ha dirigido junto a Luis Alvarenga, profesor de Filosofía de la Universidad Centroamericana del Salvador, recoge las aportaciones de diversos académicos acerca de la figura del jesuita vasco Ignacio Ellacuría, uno de los pensadores que desarrolló de la Teología de la Liberación. Ellacuría, profesor de la misma institución de enseñanza, fue asesinado por militares salvadoreños en noviembre 1989.

La expresión de Tamayo, pacífica, chocaba con la rotundidad de su discurso, que pronunció ante un auditorio abarrotado. “Prohibir a alguien a hablar de él [de Ellacuría] es condenarle de nuevo al silencio y no rehabilitarle en la dignidad que le destruyeron los propios asesinos”, aseguró el teólogo, al tiempo que añadió que el veto era una señal de que “la reforma del Papa Francisco no ha pasado de los Pirineos”. Un bloqueo, en su opinión, contradictorio con la posición de Sistach dentro de la jerarquía eclesiástica: “Por informaciones que leo, interpreto que el arzobispo de Barcelona es uno de los hombres de confianza de Francisco. ¿Qué ha sucedido para que no siga a un Papa que quiere llevar a la Iglesia en la dirección de los pobres y de la apertura?”.

En su intervención, el teólogo elogió la figura del jesuita vasco, de quien calificó su vida “como un mensaje de entrega a los demás”. El catedrático de la Universidad Carlos III resaltó el sacrificio de Ellacuría que, pese a su preparación, optó por impartir enseñanza en un país “en un infierno permanente” como El Salvador de los años 70 y 80, en lugar de hacerlo en alguna institución de enseñanza “privilegiada”.

Tamayo destacó además el “gran rigor” intelectual de Ellacuría, que se formó a la sombra de maestros como el filósofo y sacerdote jesuita Xavier Zubiri, o monseñor Romero, arzobispo del Salvador que se significó en la defensa de los derechos de los pobres y que fue asesinado por la extrema derecha de aquel país mientras celebraba misa. “[Ellacuría legó] un sistema filosófico no orientado al pensamiento por el pensamiento, si no al servicio de la liberación de las mayorías populares”, concluyó.

La charla del catedrático de la Universidad Carlos III de Madrid se celebró después que el Arzobispado de Barcelona prohibiera su celebración en la parroquia de Sant Medir. Es la tercera ocasión que la institución veta una conferencia del teólogo. La última vez que esto ocurrió, en 2012, Tamayo también había escogido la parroquia del barrio de La Bordeta como lugar del encuentro, y, ante el bloqueo de la autoridad eclesiástica, trasladó el encuentro al local de ERC en la calle de Onzinelles. El mismo lugar en el que se celebró la charla de ayer. “La intervención de Ignacio Ellacuría la dedico al cardenal. Va por usted”, añadió ayer, no sin ironía, el teólogo.
