86. El fin de la vida humana

Lo que definirá nuestra vida es si hemos amado al prójimo, si nos hemos dado por el prójimo, si no hemos aprovechado la vida para atropellar la dignidad y los derechos del hombre, nos dice hoy Monseñor Romero.  En una reflexión de un primero de noviembre, nos habla de la hora de la verdad al morirnos. Todos vamos a morir.  La pregunta es si el Señor nos dirá:”¡Pase adelante!”.   ¿Al servicio de quienes hemos vivido o estamos viviendo?  ¿Quién es nuestro Dios?  ¿ante quién nos arrodillamos? ¿a quienes servimos? 

En El Salvador la oligarquía y la clase alta de la sociedad (con los grandes empresarios) están acostumbrados a que las Iglesias están a su servicio, así como están los medios de comunicación.  Se consideran los dueños de la verdad.  Luego la pregunta para cada cristiano/a es: ¿seguimos ese juego de ponernos al servicio del poder callándonos, colaborando de hecho, justificando de esa manera?  Monseñor Romero nos invita a garantizar que nunca atropellemos la dignidad y los derechos de las personas.  Revisemos lo que estamos haciendo. 

 

87. Lo temporal termina en la tumba y ahí comienza lo eterno

Monseñor Romero nos recuerda que “ya aquí en la tierra comienza un reino de los cielos”.  Solamente en la medida que vivimos esa realidad, seremos capaces de ver más allá de las  tumbas.   Solamente aquellos que han puesto su vida al servicio del pueblo pobre, al servicio de los Cristos sufrientes de hoy, serán capaces de discernir la presencia de “lo eterno”, del Amor del Dios de la Vida.  Monseñor nos recuerda qué es lo que siente ante la tumba de Rutilio, Manuel y Nelson en El Paisnal: aquí termina lo temporal, pero – porque trabajaron por el Reino aquí en la tierra –brota lo eterno, lo nuevo, la Vida. 

Los poderes políticos (de todo  tipo) y económicos prefieren que las Iglesias se muevan a nivel de lo religioso,  a espacios y tiempos religiosos, que se entretengan con procesiones, cultos, actos conmemorativos, ritos, bendiciones,….  Y que dejen “lo  terrenal” en las manos de los que tienen el poder y la riqueza.   No: el Reino de Dios inicia aquí en la historia.  Este es el lugar de la verdad sobre y de la Iglesias. 

 

88. La inspiración del amor

Luchar en la tierra con la potencia de la justicia, pero con la inspiración del amor”.    Podemos confiar y esperar en el Dios de amor que oye el clamor de su pueblo y desde ahí arriesgarnos en esta lucha con la potencia de la justicia, con la inspiración del amor.   Así describe Monseñor Romero “el verdadero liberador cristiano”. 

La opresión siempre asume formas y métodos nuevos.  La explotación económica sigue siendo una de las formas más crueles (lentos, pero seguros) de opresión del pueblo trabajador.  Los discursos políticos de las cúpulas partidarias son también formas de opresión porque no dicen la verdad, solo quieren aplausos y los votos del pueblo, dicen cualquier cosa para que la conciencia oprimida lleve a votar por el partido.  Los medios de comunicación son un  tremendo poder de opresión: nos imponen las películas violentas, destructivas, … nos imponen sus esquemas de “interpretación de la realidad”… Nos hacen creer que es verdad “porque se dijo en la TV”… Y responden a los intereses de los grandes.  Otra forma de opresión generada gracias a las TIC son las redes sociales que nos “entretienen”, que nos hacen mirar hacia abajo (hacia el celular) y ya no hacia el horizonte. Nos hacen caminar sin rumbo…

¡Tenemos una gran necesidad de ser verdaderos “liberadores cristianos”! 

 

89. Que nos hagamos santos

“Desde la tumba del Padre Grande, elevemos al cielo una plegaria: Señor envía amor a esta tierra. Tú que trajiste fuego para que ardiera en el corazón de los hombres, mira cuanto odio, mira cuanta frialdad, mira cuánto materialismo, cuánto egoísmo, cuánta envidia. Señor, que tu amor queme tanta basura en el corazón de los hombres y nos hagamos santos.”

Orar de esta manera – desde la tumba de las y los mártires – nos exige abrirnos los ojos y ver esa “basura” en los corazones, en las acciones, en las organizaciones de las y los humanos.  Será volviendo a Jesús, el crucificado que ha sido resucitado, y su vida concreta, que podremos ver este mundo con los ojos de Dios y podremos actuar con la espiritualidad del Evangelio.

“que seamos santos”, santos/as así como Dios Madre y Padre es santo/a. No se trata de santos de palo o de procesiones o reliquias o estampitas, sino santos (como Monseñor Romero) que hacen posible que Dios mismo pase por nuestro pueblo y nuestra historia. 

 

90. Vivamos ya esta escatología

Ante las olas de violencia que viven nuestros pueblos centroamericanos, Monseñor sigue diciéndonos: “ No desesperemos, no busquemos soluciones de violencia, no odiemos, no matemos.”  No se puede decirlo con más claridad.  No desesperemos.  Cuántas familias viven ya desesperadas, arriesgando todo para migrar – a como sea y al precio que sea – a los EEUU.  ¿Pero qué estamos haciendo para que desaparezca la causa de esa violencia que desespera a tantos?  No busquemos soluciones de violencia.  Monseñor Romero llamaría a las pandillas, pero también a los gobernantes para que se den cuenta que ni las manos super duras, ni las medidas extraordinarias no van a resolver las causas de la violencia de hoy.  No odiemos. No sigamos hablando de los “terroristas” (aquellos de abajo), mientras estamos sentados en la mesa con los grandes empresarios y dueños de este  país.  No matemos. No matar!!! 

En este país con una tradición cristiana tan amplia ni respetamos los diez mandamientos fundamentales: no matar, no mentir, no robar,….   La misma constitución del país sería una ley secundaria si cumpliéramos con los 10 mandamientos. 

 

91. Fíjense en lo que les digo

No poca gente cristiana es amante de las tradiciones religiosas de sus iglesias, pero es ignorante del camino y de la persona de Jesús, o aún peor, haciéndose sordos ante la llamada de Jesús.   Monseñor Romero sabía que no pocos de los que escuchaban sus homilías (entre ellos otros obispos, sacerdotes, militares, oligarcas, y gente del pueblo, líderes de las organizaciones populares,…) no estaban interesados en la verdad del Evangelio. “rechazando la predicación o al predicador” del Evangelio.  El mensaje de Jesús, predicado y anunciado en fidelidad a Jesús, molesta tremendamente y cuestiona hasta en lo más profundo del corazón y en lo más amplio de la organización de las estructuras de las naciones. 

Dios va construyendo su Reino y nosotros podemos ser testigos en esa construcción: justicias, verdad, libertad, misericordia, solidaridad, fraternidad,…..  Los evangelios nos ofrecen tantos testimonios de llamadas a la conversión constante para ir por ese camino del Reino. 

 

92. El cristianismo es Cristo

“Hermanos, como quisiera yo grabar en el corazón de cada uno esta gran idea: el cristianismo no es un conjunto de verdades que hay que creer, de leyes que hay que cumplir, de prohibiciones. Así resulta muy repugnante,  El cristianismo es Cristo.”

Parece tan extraño que Monseñor, el pastor deba decir y repetirnos que el cristianismo es Cristo y no el conjunto de verdades, credos, ritos, leyes, cánones, obligaciones formales, prohibiciones,…..   Es triste tener que constatar que las Iglesias a dos mil años de Jesús (aquel de Galilea) se han transformado en sistemas religiosos donde la luz del Evangelio ya no puede penetrar.  Monseñor lo llama “repugnante”.  Una expresión fuerte, que puede ser jesuánica, porque así catalogó Jesús el sistema religioso de su  tiempo.  

¿Por qué tenemos tanto miedo para volver a Jesús, para devolver al pueblo los evangelios, para convocar a vecinos a reflexionar esa buena noticias que nos convoca a la conversión, a un camino nuevo, un camino de vida, un camino que nos va a liberar de las ataduras legalistas y rituales?
