99. Conviértanse

Monseñor Romero ha sido acusado de llamar a la violencia, a ser un cura revolucionario comunista, que tenía armas en la catedral, …  Nos dice que está muy tranquilo, porque “jamás he incitado a la violencia”.  Son calumnias que aún hoy se oye y se lee!!!!  

Pero Monseñor si ha “gritado” contra injusticia, exigiendo a los “injustos” que se convirtieran, exigiendo a los criminales que se convirtieran.   En esos gritos Monseñor ha estado muy solo.   Los poderosos del país pronto dejaron de aportar para la reconstrucción de la catedral y otras obras de la arquidiócesis.  Más bien financiaron la destrucción de los aparatos de difusión (radio, imprenta) de la Iglesia.  Pero aun así, se mantuvo fiel llamando a todos y todas a la conversión, a una vida diferente, a la fraternidad y solidaridad, a la justicia y la verdad. 

 

100. María Modelo de las madres que sufren. 

Monseñor Romero comprende a las madres de desaparecidos como “madres dolorosas con el corazón traspasado”.  Recuerda que a María, la madre de Jesús, se le anunció que su “corazón de madre será traspasado por una espada”.  María es hoy imagen, modelo de las madres que sufren.

Estamos al inicio de mayo, cerca del día de la madre.  En El Salvador, no solamente las madres que perdieron sus hijos/as durante la guerra, sino  también pienso en las madres de los miles de “pandilleros” que han sido asesinados/as, desparecidos/as, encarcelados/as. Y más las madres de hijos/as que estaban en el mal lugar en el mal momento de un operativo militar y que fueron encarcelados junto con otros/as jóvenes, para ser “condenados en grupo”.   Puede ser que un buen número de esas madres han permitido, han sido tolerable o hasta cómplices y beneficiarias de las extorsiones, sin embargo son madres y ahora sus hijos/as han sido asesinado/as, desparecidos/as o en los infiernos de las cárceles.  Ellas son las madres dolorosas de hoy. Son miles, así como son miles los asesinados, desaparecidos y encarcelados. 

Con toda la campaña gubernamental de las medidas extraordinarias contra los terroristas, esas madres desaparecen. Nadie las escucha porque sus hijos/as caen bajo la categoría de “terroristas” y son humillados, maltratados, encerrados en los infiernos de las cárceles de nuestro país.   ¿Cómo será el día de la madre para esas miles de madres? 

En este mes de mayo, mes de María en el entorno de la Iglesia romana, vale la pena recordar que Monseñor Romero sigue diciendo que María es modelo de las madres que sufren, de las madres que viven ese calvario y ese sufrimiento.

 
 

101. Que vuelvan los hijos donde los reclama el derecho de Dios.

María al pie de la cruz, la Dolorosa, - tan realistamente expresado en la imagen conocida de Miguel Ángel -  es para Monseñor Romero el grito de las madres que sufren el atropello de sus hijos/as.  La Iglesia como Monseñor Romero la vivió recoge ese grito de tantas madres, esposas, hogares amparados y exige que “se vuelvan los hijos/as donde los reclama el derecho de Dios, la ley del Señor.”

Me pregunto: ¿dónde y cómo las iglesias de hoy estamos recogiendo esos mismos gritos?  Recuerdo que en el Evangelio de Mateo 25,36.43 Jesús no se refiere a los encarcelados injustamente, o sin razón, sino nos dice: “Yo estaba en la cárcel y (no) me fueron a ver”.  No inventemos justificaciones.  No digamos que ellos son los malos y nosotros los buenos.  Todos y todas, toda la sociedad ha engendrado esas olas tremendas de violencia, aunque sea por no haber hecho nada, por habernos callado.  Hoy, sí, las mamás, las esposas de tantos miles de presos (acusados de “terrorismo”), ellas sí están haciendo filas para ir a visitar a sus hijos/as, para dejarles un poco de comidita, una ropita, para darles un abrazo si es posible.  Tantas madres, esposas que han tenido el cadáver de su hijo/a asesinado por la pandilla, por la policía (llamado fallecido en intercambio de disparos), siguen lanzando esos gritos de amor de madre que no tiene límite.  María al pie de la cruz.  

 

102. Tengo la conciencia tranquila

Hoy no escuchamos voces proféticas de valor y valentía como en el tiempo de Monseñor Romero.  Hoy se suaviza, se trata de no herir, de no tocar sensibilidades, ni a los dueños de las empresas, ni a la oligarquía, ni a los dueños de las AFP, ni a los poderes del estado, tratando de decir algo sin decir nada.  Monseñor Romero nos dijo: “grito fuerte contra la injusticia pero para decirle a los injustos conviértanse. Grito en nombre del dolor, de los que sufren la injusticia, pero para decirle a los criminales: conviértanse, no sean malos”  Los mensajes en las homilías de las catedrales, en las conferencias de prensa no son gritos fuertes contra la injusticia, no son gritos fuertes en nombre del dolor.   

Hoy es más que evidente que la privatización de las pensiones era una jugada sucia e injusta para favorecer, es decir enriquecer, a los dueños de las AFP quitando el 20% de las aportaciones, sin ningún riesgo, recibiendo mensualmente los aportes, mientras el estado tenía que pagar las pensiones.  Y hoy, hasta agotar el sistema sucia e injusta, impuesta por ARENA y los otros partidos de la derecha, llegando a imposibilidad de pagar préstamos.  ¿Y las voces proféticas? ¿Y los gritos fuertes a nombre del dolor y en contra de la injusticia?  

Monseñor, además de gritar fuertemente, tenía la conciencia tranquila, a pesar de las calumnias, de las acusaciones.  El profeta en nombre de Dios sabía que estaba en el camino del Evangelio.  

103. Convirtamos en redención el dolor

“No dejen que se anide en el corazón de ustedes la serpiente del rencor. Amen a Dios.” Y nos recuerda la llamada de Jesús en la cruz: Padre, perdónalos…    Nuestro pueblo está profundamente herido, dolorido por años de guerra (tantas heridas no sanadas por falta de verdad) y por los miles de asesinatos durante los últimos años. ¿Qué hacer para convertir ese profundo dolor en redención, en salvación, en vida?  Las manos super duras y las medidas extraordinarias han bajado la cantidad de homicidios, pero no han resuelto el problema, no han generado redención, salvación o vida.   Tanto los que asesinan, los presos por asesinato, como los familiares de los asesinados, todo nuestro pueblo debería de escuchar la voz de Dios en la voz de Monseñor romero: ““No dejen que se anide en el corazón de ustedes la serpiente del rencor. Amen a Dios.”  Las y los cristianos en todo esto tendríamos que ser las y los primeros. ¿Qué ofrecemos desde las iglesias, desde las comunidades cristianas para que las heridas puedan sanarse, para evitar que el rencor anide en los corazones?
