135. María, signo de la presencia de Cristo.

En María, siempre nos referimos a Cristo”, es “signo de la presencia de Cristo”.  En algunas tradiciones eclesiales se ha aislado la devoción a la virgen María de la presencia de Cristo, del seguimiento a Jesús, del camino del Evangelio.  Por eso, nos dice Monseñor Romero “María signo de la presencia de Cristo, No lo olvidemos”.  Está preocupado porque ve que la devoción a la virgen María va apagándose.   Siendo la madre de Jesús y por eso es reconocida como Madre de la Iglesia, María es la luz que ilumina el caminar del Evangelio.   Los evangelios dan algunos testimonios de su papel, de su compromiso, de sus dudas y de su fidelidad.  Su total confianza en el Dios de Abrahán, de Moisés, el Dios de la Alianza, de los profetas, le ha ayudado a seguir fielmente a Jesús, hasta el calvario y más allá convocando nuevamente a los discípulos desanimados y miedosos.  ¿Seremos capaces de hacer sus pasos?

 

136. El salvadoreño lleva su fe en el corazón.

Monseñor Romero nos recuerda que la fe auténtica “tiene relación con el dolor humano, con las situaciones difíciles de la tierra” y jamás puede vivirse como en el caso del sacerdote y el levita en la parábola conocida como del buen samaritano.    Lo grave es “una fe desencarnada”, una fe que “solamente se concretara en ese alejamiento de las realidades dolorosas de la tierra”.   Qué bien que Monseñor Romero nos recuerda que es fundamental para la fe cristiana el estar enraizada en “las heridas” humanas (y quizás hasta de la naturaleza), las heridas de la vida, las heridas del pueblo empobrecido. 

De manera muy generalizante Monseñor Romero nos dice que “el salvadoreño lleva su fe en el corazón, y desde su fe ilumina las realidades de la  tierra”.  Me parece que esto se da, de verdad, pero no en todos los que dicen ser creyentes cristianos. Muchos – en realidad, en lo concreto – llevan en su corazón más bien el ídolo de la riqueza, del poder, de la organización.   Se corazón se ha llenado con planteamientos ideológicos (de derecha y de izquierda) y ya no ven al herido en el camino, al sobreviviente de las maquilas, a los familiares de los diariamente asesinados (son de las maras, pues, no importa!!!),…. 

Monseñor sigue llamándonos a llevar nuestra fe en el corazón y vivirla en la realidad dolorosa.  Este día que escribo esta reflexión Mgr Gregorio Rosa Chavez ha sido  creado cardenal.  El Papa Francisco mencionó a Monseñor Romero en la presentación de Mgr Rosa.  En su homilía profundizó sobre el servicio de la vocación, sobre “entre ustedes no puede ser así” (no puede ser una lucha por el poder, un abuso de poderes).  Vivir una fe encarnada significa servir, especialmente a las y los heridos que por todo lado están dispersos por los caminos de nuestros pueblos. 

 

137. La paz es dinamismo.

La paz es aporte de todos, es dinamismo, es generosidad, es derecho y deber!!!   Monseñor, al hablar de la paz, refiere a la responsabilidad de “ser colaborador con Dios en la justicia, en la paz, en el amor en este reino en la tierra”.

El lema del nuevo cardenal es “Cristo es nuestra paz” .  De verdad, el camino de Jesús, la práctica de Jesús, sus opciones (en cuanto a la religión, la convivencia humana, la política, el horizonte, la utopía,..) es lo que nos llevará a construir juntos la paz (fruto de justicia) en nuestra patria.   Hoy, tanta gente (políticos, religiosos, hasta periódicos de la derecha) expresa su alegría por el nuevo cardenal, pero ¿Qué harán mañana cuando Gregorio Cardenal Rosa Chavez pida construir la paz, abandonar la lucha por los privilegios de unos y los intereses de los poderosos?  La paz es ese dinamismo de aporte concreto de todos y todas.

Quien no aporta para que haya paz en la pareja, en la familia, en su propia comunidad (adesco,..) no será capaz de aportar dinámicamente para que haya paz en el país.

 

138. Predico al Cristo que se encarna hoy y aquí.

Monseñor recuerda algo que es tan obvio, pero que – por vergüenza se escucha en tantos templos – la predicación de Cristo no puede ser  lo mismo “aquí en El Salvador que allá en Africa o en cualquier tiempo de la historia”.   Monseñor Romero ha sido capaz de predicar a Cristo “que se encarna para hoy, aquí en El Salvador en 1978”, a Cristo “que acompaña nuestras vicisitudes de la historia actual”, a Cristo “que ilumina esta semana”.  

En realidad no incomoda predicar unas cuantas verdades teológicas, cristológicas sobre Jesús, el Cristo, el enviado, el mesías, segunda persona de la santísima trinidad,…..  Esas prédicas no tienen que ver nada con el Cristo encarnado en la historia concreta de un pueblo.  El mensaje de Jesús no puede ser lo mismo en medio de un pueblo pobre o en una iglesia de creyentes ricos y poderosos (a lo mejor generosos para ayudar en las obras de la Iglesia y sus pastores). En cada situación concreta, en cada momento particular, Cristo encarnado en la historia tiene un mensaje concreto y propio. Monseñor Romero logró cada semana, cada domingo, en cada homilía, dar testimonio de ese Cristo encarnado.  No tuvo miedo para hablar la radicalidad del Evangelio.

 

139. ¡Dichosos los pobres!

En la sociedad capitalista (es la que conozco) se dice y se vive “dichosos los ricos” porque “tanto vales cuanto tienes”.  Monseñor Romero nos recuerda que “revolución quiere decir esto: sub-verter un orden, sub-vertir el orden moral que domina generalmente en el mundo”.   Muchas veces nos olvidamos de que esa “sub-versión” es un proceso gradual.  Las revoluciones se proyectan como “el gobierno del cambio” y no pocas veces sus líderes se hacen los dueños y jueces de la misma revolución.  Monseñor Romero hace referencia a la “sub- versión que trajo Jesús al proclamar “dichosos los pobres porque de ellos es el Reino de los Cielos, porque no ponen su confianza en esto tan transitorio”.   Tan fácilmente se ha violado esa bienaventuranza interpretando que los pobres mejor aguanten porque en el más allá estarán bien.  

Hace poco un amigo me enseñó una traducción francés de la biblia donde se traduce lo de “dichoso” con “en marche”, es decir “en marcha, de camino, adelante”…. Suena diferente: a caminar ustedes los pobres….  Ustedes son el camino del Reino, ustedes son los instrumentos en las manos de Dios para “sub-verter” este mundo.  

Por eso, cuando en una nación, los ricos y poderosos se ponen al frente de la lucha por las causas justas de los pobres, todo irá de mal en peor, porque no son ellos que van a revertir el desorden del mundo. Solo las y los pobres serán capaces de poner “en marcha” un mundo de justicia, fraternidad, solidaridad, igualdad, libertad. 

 

140. La garantía de tener a Dios cerca de mí.

Si alguien está cerca de Dios no depende de su ropa litúrgica o clerical, no depende de la cantidad de sacramentos que ha recibido, no depende si sabe rezar (a menudo) los credos, o si participa constantemente del culto, sino de “todo aquel que se preocupa del hambriento, del desnudo, del pobre, del desaparecido, del torturado, del prisionero, de  toda esa carne que sufre, tiene cerca a Dios.”   Claro, son referencias claras al Evangelio de Jesús, su vida y su práctica.   “Hago el bien al hermano” entendido como “¿cómo me porto con el pobre?”

Hablando de El Salvador, es evidente que aquellos que ganan salarios altos (a nivel de gobierno, entidades autónomas, en las empresas privadas, …) no son capaces de escuchar el dolor, el grito de las y los pobres.  Harán leyes siempre mediocres que permiten salidas que no afectan a los intereses de los poderosos.   En El Salvador todavía se llenan las parroquias (católicas romanas) con una buena cantidad de misas cada fin de semana y en ciertas fiestas, pero Monseñor Romero nos recuerda: “la religión no consiste en mucho rezar”, no consiste en cumplir perfectamente con los ritos religiosos. La única garantía de estar cerca de Dios es el compromiso concreto solidario fraterno con las y los pobres. Y esto no es cuestión de palabras, también en nuestra propia manera de vivir.  Solamente en este caminar con las y los pobres la liturgia tendrá su valor evangélico.
