141. El Dios espiritualista, desencarnado.

Como profeta de Dios Monseñor Romero denunciaba la idolatría: la adoración de dioses falsos y engañosos.  En este caso nos habla del “dios del sacerdote y del levita que pasaron cuando vieron el herido, al pobre judío y no le hicieron caso.” Y nos da el ejemplo de aquellos que acusa a la Iglesia de hablar de “las cosas  terrenales”. Monseñor aclara que critican a la Iglesia porque no quieren que haga caso al hombre herido.  Preocuparse por “el hombre herido”, para esa gente no es “religión”.  Para ellos religión es “ir al templo a orar y no tener tiempo para atender las necesidades materiales de la tierra.”  Monseñor nos recuerda que “Cristo alabó como verdadero prójimo al samaritano que le hizo el bien al herido, sin fijarse a quién.”  Y concluye su reflexión: “Este es el prójimo, dice Cristo, haz como él”.

Lastimosamente en las iglesias se sigue predicando mayoritariamente a ese dios espiritualista y desencarnado.  El dios de los ritos, procesiones, tradiciones religiosas que no está interesado en la vida de las y los pobres.   El nuevo cardenal en El Salvador ha explicado que son 4 palabras que lo van a guiar: María, los mártires, los pobres y Romero.  Ojalá que logre hacerlo de esa manera y sobre todo que sepa empujar esa otra dinámica de Iglesia que cree en el Dios de Jesús, el Dios del herido, el Dios realmente encarnada en nuestra realidad.

 

142. El Dios de la historia.

Monseñor cree en el Dios “que salva en la historia de El Salvador y ha puesto una Iglesia para que proclame esa fe en el Dios verdadero y purifique del pecado la historia y santifique la historia para convertirla en vehículo de salvación”. De esto se trata: El Dios en que creemos es el Dios vivencia, el Dios de la historia.   Pero esa fe tiene que traducirse en el testimonio de la Iglesia que asume su papel: “hacer de nuestra historia patria una historia que corresponda a los ideales de Dios que ama a los salvadoreños”.

Para esa misión la iglesia tendrá que denunciar esos poderes que pretenden legalizar los abusos y las injusticias, esos poderes que responden a los ídolos del dinero que solo provocan perdición en nuestra historia.  Monseñor menciona también que no se quiere una historia de ateísmo: una historia de pecado donde no se deja lugar para el Dios de la vida de las y los pobres.  

Realmente la iglesia tendría que revisar en qué Dios cree. No revisar lo que dice y repite en los credos. Ni lo que aparece en la liturgia, sino revisar lo que hace en concreto “ante la dura realidad del herido golpeado y abandonado en el camino”.   A veces hasta tengo la impresión que el culto a los mártires (llamado: celebraciones martiriales, memorias martiriales,..) está corriendo el mismo peligro: nos alegra y nos anima hacer memoria de los mártires, pero no asumimos las causas del herido!!!  Es que no hay tiempo, hay tantas celebraciones martiriales que no nos queda tiempo para meternos en las cosas concretas y diarias “del pueblo y sus luchas”. 

 

143.  El verdadero culto a Dios.

El verdadero culto a Dios (digamos al Dios de Jesús) es encarnar ese amor, esa fe a lo trascendente en la historia del tiempo, en el momento que se vive.  De nada sirve estar repitiendo, ni en celebraciones litúrgicas, verdades dogmáticas sobre Dios si esa verdad no se encarna, no se hace carne (realidad), en la historia concreta de hoy.   Monseñor Romero nos recuerda que sería un dios falso predicado sin denuncia de los hombres injustos que siguen aprovechándose de las estructuras injustas.   Si la fuerza de Dios se hace presente en la voz de los sin voz, en la Iglesia cercana a las y los pobres, nadie podrá detenerla, ni las amenazas, ni las calumnias, ni los asesinatos.  Cada comunidad creyente tendría que preguntarse constantemente si o en qué medida su culto a Dios se encarna en la realidad de la historia de hoy abriendo historia de salvación para las y los pobres.

 

144.  Dios es novedad.

Podría sonar extraño…  ¿No nos enseñaron que Dios es eterno, inmovible, siempre lo mismo,…?  Monseñor Romero nos recuerda hoy que “Dios es vida, Dios es evolución, Dios es novedad, Dios va caminando con la historia del pueblo.”   Luego Monseñor nos pide una valoración crítica de nuestras tradiciones y costumbres, para ver sí o en qué medida “empañan el verdadero Evangelio”.   No poca gente se encierra en el cumplimiento con tradiciones y costumbres religiosas y eso solo “porque sí”, porque siempre se ha hecho, y se ha hecho así, o porqué está escrito en un tal libro.   No, Monseñor nos exige estar “atento a la voz del Espíritu” y convertirnos, ir en pos del Evangelio de Jesús”.

Por causa de la siempre novedad de Dios, Monseñor denuncia a todos aquellos que se sientan seguros y que crean que no tienen necesidad de cambiar, de renovarse, como “fariseos, hipócritas, sepulcros blanqueados”.  Son palabras fuertes desde el Evangelio de Jesús mismo.   ¿Estamos dispuestos de verdad a “esa docilidad para convertirnos adonde el Señor quiere” que vayamos?

 

145.  Conviértete al Señor.

Monseñor nos sorprende todos los días.  “A nosotros solo nos toca seguir humildemente por donde Dios me quiere llevar” y llama “dichoso aquel que se siente fiel a los caminos (cada vez nuevos y exigentes) que Dios le va inspirando.”  Monseñor es el profeta de Dios que nos pide salir de la parentela (las relaciones familiares), despojarnos de nuestras falsas seguridades y convertirnos al Señor.  Es la  vocación de Abrahán: sal de tu tierra… y arriésgate a un camino nuevo, a un horizonte nuevo.  Nos dice: “Este es el camino inacabable de esta peregrinación de nuestra fe”.  La fe no es en primer lugar un espacio religioso que nos consuela (como dice la oración a la bandera salvadoreña), sino un camino a andar, una peregrinación constante que nos exige soltar, desaprender, abandonar, arriesgarnos a lo nuevo de Dios en nuestra vida.  

Felices las y los creyentes que han podido experimentar esa presencia impactante del Dios de Jesús que nos hace cambiar toda proyección o expectativa humana.   Nos toca seguir humildemente por donde Dios nos quiere llevar!!!!  Es sorprendente y exige conversión y real disposición!!!!  

 

146. Celebremos al Divino Salvador.

A un mes de celebrar la fiesta anual del Divino Salvador del Mundo (fiesta patronal de El Salvador y de San Salvador), Monseñor nos pide “prepararnos, sobre todo” para celebrar esa fiesta, donde espera una verdadera concentración de comunidades.  Está consciente que para esos días la devoción y la cultura popular aumentan, tiene su fervor religioso, que la catedral se pone pintoresca, pero nos pide “sobre todo, prepararnos”.  Esto no se refiere a la preparación material de las peregrinaciones, de los adornos, de “la bajada”,…m sino la preparación de la conversión hacia el Divino Salvador del Mundo. Nos ha hablado de la necesaria y constante conversión, revisión de la vida y de la fe.

 

147a. La iniciativa de la salvación es de Dios.

El libro día a día con Monseñor (Hombre de Dios) ha escogido varios textos de la homilía de Monseñor Romero del 9 de julio de 1978, a un mes de la celebración de la fiesta patronal.  Hoy nos habla de “un camino que arranca de la iniciativa de Dios, que se explica como una redención integral en medio de los hombres, pero que solamente la pueden recibir los sencillos, los humildes, no los sabios según el mundo.”  Estas tres ideas fundamentales de su homilía abren la auténtica perspectiva de como Monseñor Romero entendió la fe.   

Reflexionando el primer aspecto.   La fe es un camino que arranca de la iniciativa de Dios.   En lenguaje cristiano podemos decir que el Dios de Jesús convoca, llama,… a todos los seres humanos (no importa si es cristiano, creyente de alguna religión, ateo, indiferente,..) para que “abandonemos todo y luchemos por la vida, por la liberación de los explotados y oprimidos”.  En el A.T se expresa eso en términos creyentes con las narraciones sobre Abrahán y Moisés.   Es lo fundamental, lo humano.  El Dios de Jesús toma la iniciativa, mucho más allá de las religiones (judías, cristianas,..).  En el horizonte cristiano, se traduce y se profundiza esa llamada como la vocación de servir como testigos del Reinado de Dios en la historia.  Siempre será Dios que toma la iniciativa.  Es Jesús que llama….  Recordemos: ustedes no me escogieron a mi, sino yo he escogido a ustedes.
