Declaración pública del Comité Oscar Romero-SICSAL-Chile.-

 

 

I A través de la prensa, se ha hecho pública la diferencia de la visión de Iglesia del Arzobispo de Santiago y del Nuncio Apostólico con los sacerdotes Mariano Puga,

José Aldunate y Felipe Berríos, los dos últimos pertenecientes a la Compañía de Jesús.

Los tres sacerdotes son reconocidos por su santidad de vida, su lucidez intelectual y su profundo y generoso compromiso evangélico expresado en obras de justicia.  Su fidelidad al Evangelio es inobjetable, pues nadie puede negar que, literalmente, han acogido la Palabra de Jesús: “El que quiera ser el primero, que sea el último y el servidor de todos”.  (Mc. 9, 35).

 

II El Comité Oscar Romero-SICSAL-Chile entrega su solidaridad a los tres sacerdotes cuestionados y a quienes les acompañan y comparten su vida de Iglesia, porque constituyen un testimonio radical de fe del mensaje de Jesús, que es el amor a los oprimidos de su pueblo.  Al igual que Jesús, sus existencias no son rituales, sino existencias para los oprimidos de nuestro pueblo.  Ello significa que Dios “nos revela su presencia activa y su llamado, no en los grandes de la tierra, no en el “poder sagrado” de las jerarquías humanas, no en la cultura elitista y el prestigio de las “clases dirigentes”, sino en el semejante necesitado, reconocido y servido como hermano y en la muchedumbre de pobres y marginados, con sus privaciones y su esperanza”.  (Muñoz, R., “Dios de los cristianos”, Ed. Paulinas, Madrid, 1987, pág. 92).

 

III Es válido afirmar que el conflicto en cuestión es expresión del contexto histórico que está viviendo la Iglesia Católica: el Concilio Vaticano II renovó la teología de la Iglesia, centrando a ésta en el pueblo de Dios.  Pero la institución eclesial  ha continuado teniendo su centro en la Jerarquía gobernante.  Por tanto, se trata de dos “Iglesias” que representan dos eclesiologías yuxtapuestas, pero no integradas y el gobierno jerárquico se encuentra, muchas veces, sobreponiéndose a la participación responsable del pueblo creyente y de los sacerdotes comprometidos con sus inquietudes y esperanzas.

En consecuencia, pareciera pertinente recordar que la Constitución dogmática “Lumen Gentium” (Sobre la Iglesia), del Concilio Vaticano II, respecto del episcopado afirma que el obispo “tenga siempre ante los ojos el ejemplo del Buen Pastor, que vino no a ser servido, sino a servir y a dar la vida por sus ovejas.  Tomado de entre los hombres y rodeado él mismo de flaquezas, debe apiadarse de los ignorantes y equivocados.  No se niegue a oír a sus súbditos”.  (Nº 27).

 

IV Recientemente, en la Exhortación Apostólica “Evangelii Gaudium” (La alegría del Evangelio), el Papa Francisco, al igual que los tres sacerdotes cuestionados, se ha manifestado preocupado del sufrimiento de los pobres y enfermos, de los ancianos y de los niños, y no del esplendor de la Iglesia.  Por ello, afirma que en una Iglesia misionera el obispo debe acompañar a todos “y no sólo a algunos que le acaricien los oídos”.  (Nº 31).  Y agrega: “Prefiero una Iglesia accidentada, herida y manchada por salir a las calles, antes que una Iglesia enferma por el encierro y la comodidad de aferrarse a las propias seguridades.  No quiero una Iglesia preocupada por ser el centro y que termina clausurada en una maraña de obsesiones y procedimientos”.  (49).

V Es también necesario sacar a la luz la Carta Pastoral del Comité Permanente de la Conferencia Episcopal de Chile, “Humanizar  y compartir con equidad el desarrollo de Chile”, de septiembre de 2012, firmada por los obispos del Comité Permanente presidido por el Arzobispo de Santiago, Ricardo Ezzati.  En su introducción se indica que “la fe cristiana no es sólo una doctrina, una sabiduría, un conjunto de normas morales.  La fe cristiana es un encuentro real, una relación con Jesucristo.  Transmitir la fe significa crear en cada lugar y en cada tiempo las condiciones para que este encuentro entre los hombres y Jesucristo se realice”.(…) “Dios quiere que seamos seres autónomos y libres, convencidos de la verdad de un mensaje que humaniza, que nos invita sin ambigüedades y sin recortes a emprender el desafío que lleva a la verdadera felicidad”.  (IV, Nº 8).

Es esto, justamente, lo que los tres sacerdotes cuestionados han llevado a cabo a lo largo de sus vidas.  Luego, es difícil entender  que las mismas personas que se erigen en  jueces carezcan de consecuencia entre sus palabras y sus acciones y formas de proceder, las que no respetan la dignidad de las personas al interior de la Iglesia, lo que consecuentemente es un antitestimonio y motivo de agotamiento para los discípulos de Jesús que  padecen diversas formas de injusticia al interior de la Iglesia.  Estos procedimientos autoritarios e inhumanos deben terminar.

 

VI Como discípulo de Jesús, el obispo-mártir Oscar Arnulfo Romero también padeció la persecución de parte de quienes conciben a la Iglesia como una entidad de poder.  Romero, proféticamente, planteó dos preguntas fundamentales: en qué Dios cree la Iglesia y si cree en Dios.  Al igual que Puga, Aldunate y Berríos, Romero creyó en un Dios de la historia, denunciador del pecado que da muerte y que a la vez mantiene la esperanza de los pobres. Y él mismo asevera que “sería muy triste una Iglesia que se sintiera tan dueña de la verdad que rechazara todo lo demás”.  (8-7-1979).

La Palabra de Dios, que es un proyecto de vida para humanizar el mundo, y que innegablemente han seguido Mariano Puga, José Aldunate y Felipe Berríos, exige que ellos sean respetados.  No aceptamos que sean cuestionados –menos aún en la forma como se ha procedido- porque sus acciones y sus orientaciones llevan salud a los enfermos, comida a los pobres y solidaridad humana.  Es así como ellos construyen una Iglesia con las puertas abiertas.
