OTOÑO DE LOS PATRIARCAS.-

El pasado 8 de abril, el Papa Francisco extendió dos invitaciones: durante la tercera semana de mayo, los obispos de la Iglesia Católica chilena sostendrán un nuevo encuentro con el Papa.  Previamente, ya se entrevistaron con él Juan Carlos Cruz, James Hamilton y José Andrés Murillo, víctimas visibles del sacerdote Fernando Karadima.

Esto se ha producido después que el arzobispo de Boston, Sean O”Malley, abogó por las víctimas de Karadima y  los laicos de Osorno tras la defensa del obispo Barros en Iquique que el mismo Papa había enfatizado.

Ahora, el Papa “quiere pedirles perdón, compartir su dolor y su vergüenza por lo que han sufrido y, sobre todo, escucharlos en todas aquellas sugerencias que puedan realizarle para evitar la repetición de semejantes hechos reprochables”.  Se suma el informe Scicluna que habría establecido que el caso Karadima es uno más de muchos y que los obispos de Chile no han actuado bien.

Es difícil aceptar como verdadero que tanto el Papa como los obispos hayan desconocido los acontecimientos en cuestión, puesto que las denuncias sobre los mismos fueron numerosas y nunca escuchadas.  Al contrario, los denunciantes de abusos sexuales y de habituales abusos laborales, sicológicos, humillaciones de todo tipo, etc…, siempre han sido descalificados y quienes han tenido conocimiento de ellos han eludido sus responsabilidades morales por temor a represalias o a perder sus cargos.

Por de pronto, ya en diciembre de 2011 había visitado Chile el sacerdote  Carlos       Collazi, con la misión de verificar los procesos formativos y la transparencia de la administración económica de la Pía Unión Sacerdotal de El Bosque.  En enero de 2012 entregó su informe a la Congregación de la Doctrina de la Fe en El Vaticano.

Por su parte, el Presidente de la Conferencia Episcopal, obispo CASTRENSE Santiago Silva, ha señalado que “el Papa nos ayudará a discernir cómo acompañar a las víctimas, a reparar el mal causado y a tomar medidas que ayuden a recomponer la comunión eclesial”.  Agregando tardía e infantilmente que los problemas a los que se han visto enfrentados en el último tiempo “no son sólo la manipulación de conciencia y los abusos de niños, sino un estilo de ser Iglesia y de evangelizar que tenemos que replantearnos, porque no están aportando identidad cristiana y compromiso con la sociedad”.

Recién después de medio siglo del Concilio Ecuménico Vaticano II; después de cuatro Conferencias del Episcopado Latinoamericano;  tras innumerables encíclicas y múltiples otros documentos magisteriales; después de años de haber rechazado sistemáticamente las denuncias fundadas de abusos y de corrupción, los obispos de Chile se han dado cuenta de la necesidad de “renovación interior”.   Resulta inaceptable  que sólo reaccionen ante el poder máximo de la Iglesia, temiendo perder sus  privilegios y que “se laven las manos” en torno a una desinformación y engaño en que habrían mantenido al Papa

Es difícil aceptar tal grado de cinismo, semejante al de los violadores de derechos humanos durante la dictadura militar-empresarial.  Para los católicos es una tragedia contar con obispos carentes de dignidad personal e incapaces de asumir sus responsabilidades y que sólo se han apoyado en el abuso de poder y en la cercanía con los grupos económicos, los mismos que han depredado al país y todo el pueblo.

No es extraño, entonces, que los sondeos de opinión señalen que, si en 2006 el 70% de la población de Chile se profesaba católica,  la misma encuesta indica que en 2017 alcanza a un 59% y que sólo el 26% de aquellos que son padres aceptarían un colegio católico para sus hijos.

Pareciera que las autoridades eclesiásticas y los que les siguen como “capataces”  se hubieran convencido de su derecho a reinar como si ello fuera un don divino y que toda objeción a su actuar sería una indigna sublevación del “populacho”, tal como hasta hace algunos siglos atrás, los aristócratas estaban convencidos de sus puestos arriba.  El pueblo debía permanecer abajo, sin ascender y sin  derecho a expresarse.

Han mostrado espíritus estrechos y mezquinos aquellos que, supuestamente, habrían consagrado sus vidas al servicio de Dios y de la humanidad y que distan de tantos que trabajan sin descanso en la evangelización y que, no obstante, padecen de la vigilancia y de la persecución de los mismos que deberían darles orientaciones para continuar en sus labores. 

La Iglesia debe estar centrada en las personas y no en el poder de las instituciones.  El Concilio Vaticano II asumió los valores de la modernidad.  Pero estos no han sido asumidos por las autoridades eclesiásticas.  Al contrario: las autoridades eclesiásticas de la Iglesia chilena, salvo dos o tres excepciones, parecieran estar enceguecidas por la soberbia.  No creen en la libertad.  Sus actitudes rememoran  la descripción que Stefan Zweig ha hecho de la reina María Antonieta en los albores de la Revolución Francesa: “No ha notado nada, ni ha percibido nada de las grandes ventajas que para la humanidad resultan de un movimiento que nos ha aportado los magníficos fundamentos de todas  las nuevas relaciones entre los hombres: la libertad de conciencia, la libertad de opinión, la libertad de prensa, la libertad de comercio y la libertad de reunión; que ha esculpido la igualdad de clases, razas y confesiones como primer artículo de la tabla de la ley de los tiempos nuevos y  que ha puesto fin a vergonzosos restos de la Edad Media, el tormento judicial, el vasallaje y la esclavitud; jamás comprendió la reina o trató de comprender la parte más mínima de estas metas espirituales. (…) Y de este modo, sucedió lo que tenía que suceder.  Como María Antonieta era injusta con la Revolución, la Revolución fue dura e injusta con ella”.

Moraleja: “con la medida con que midáis seréis medidos”.  (Mt. 7,  2 ).
